The work that actually fills the day
Helping someone out of bed without hurting either of you. Bathing and changing with dignity kept intact. Meals eaten rather than served. Turning a bedridden patient often enough that pressure sores never start. Walking to the gate and back. Remembering which tablet is at what time. None of it is dramatic and all of it decides how well someone lives.
Male and female attendants
For personal care most families have a clear preference, and it is usually the right one — a father who would find it difficult to be bathed by a woman, a mother who would find the reverse difficult. Say so when you call. It is a normal request, not an awkward one.
Living far from a parent
A large share of the families who call us are not in Bangalore, or not in the same part of it. The arrangement has to work without you in the room: someone who reports honestly, a phone number that gets answered, and a written record of the day rather than a reassuring summary.
When an attendant is not enough
If a patient needs injections, a catheter managed, tube feeding, or wound dressing changed to a doctor's instruction, that is nursing work and needs a qualified nurse. A good provider tells you that before taking the booking, not after.
